Our elite team. We have 2 hair and makeup teams and we absolutely love what we do. Our work is always consistent and we love producing on trend hair and makeup looks for our brides. We are fun and creative but have a very relaxed and caring nature. We always joke that will bring the calm to you on your day and we actually do.
The ‘getting ready’ part of your day is so important. It sets the mood for the entire day. You’ll want to choose artists that know and understand the flow of the day. We did 198 weddings last year, so that’s us. You need someone that can work to a time frame, keeping the vibe super calm and relaxed – we do this. And you’ll need professionals that understand how to work in with your other suppliers. Chances are you have never been a bride before, you really have no idea what to do or expect, so you’re literally in our hands.
With us you will totally glide through, we will give you guidance, we will make sure everything runs on time, you will be having an amazing time, chilling with your ladies, having champagne (or beer, whatever you fancy). It’s basically the best time ever. How many years has it been since you got glammed up with your best ladies all in the same place. It’s heaven!
How many artists will be doing hair and makeup on my wedding day?
Our usual bookings are 6-8 people for both hair and makeup but its not uncommon for us to cater for larger numbers. 2 artists can easily get you all ready.
We usually start with your bridesmaids, gliding through each person one by one. We love doing our brides hair and makeup somewhere in the middle. Being ready a little earlier gives you time to relax and soak up all the moments. Sometimes brides ask to go last, but we don’t advise this as it can feel quite busy towards the end.
Take our advice and we will keep you calm and those little nerves at bay.
How long does hair and makeup take?
Majority of the time makeup takes about 45mins per person and hair between 30-45mins depending on your style. We will work out all our timings for you to make sure everyone is ready when they need to be.
It’s not uncommon for our makeup artist to start a bit earlier in the day than our hairstylist. We don’t want to start earlier than needed, so we will talk with you about everyone’s requirements as we get closer to your day and work all our timings out for you.
Your photography is such an integral part of your day and we love working with our brides and their photographers. Majority of the time your photographer will request to have hair and makeup completed 1.5hrs prior to your ceremony. It may be more, it may be less, but take their advice and we will work around this.
As part of our service, we offer touch-ups to everyone after we complete the last person’s hair and makeup, so you are all fresh to dress and begin taking photos. Many photographers love that we offer this as part of our service as it allows them to get some stunning ‘getting ready’ shots of you and your bridal party when they arrive which just adds another beautiful element to your wedding day story.
What products do you use?
We use only high-quality professional and cruelty-free hair and makeup products.
Some of these include Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury, Stila, Weleda, Fenty, Too Faced, Tarte, Becca, Mecca, Erin Bigg, Urban Decay, Modelrock, Ellementwo, Makeup Geek, NAK, CPR, Danessa Myricks and Queen Street Apothecary.
We’re proud to say we can fully cater for all the vegan brides out there. We can also offer organic products.
How do hair and makeup trials work?
Trials are not to test our skills, because we can do it. They are an opportunity for you to meet with us to discuss your ideas and see if what you have in mind will actually suit you. They take approx 1.5hrs. Most brides have these 1-2months before their day.
Before your trial, it’s OK not to have an exact idea of what you’re wanting. Just start saving a few images you like and we will walk you through this process. When you’re happy with the creation, we document this for you so we are able to replicate it on your wedding day. You will leave feeling amazing, relaxed and relieved.
Lots of our brides like to line up this appointment with their pre-wedding shoots, so keep that in mind. It’s a great way to use it and we can always change your hairstyle at the end to something more relaxed so your fiancé has no idea of your final look. We hold trials on weekdays only.
What is your booking process?
Many wedding planning blogs will have you believe that its best to book in your hair and makeup 3-6 months before your day. This is absolutely incorrect as many hair and makeup artists book out over 12 months in advance. We currently have bookings over 15 months ahead which may sound crazy. On average we book out approx 9 months before the day. Some are further out, some less. We book only 1 wedding per day per artist, so we do book out quickly.
We like to talk with all our future brides to be. Once you enquire with us we will contact you to chat about your day. We love to know what you’ve dreamt up and what your plans are. We will then send through a package to you via email. It will include our availability, a quote for your day, details about your trial and a few other bits and pieces about us and how we will work with you and support you through this process.
When you enquire it’s OK not to know who will need hair and makeup, we can work this out later on. Sometimes brides just book in themselves and their bridesmaids, then add on family members and friends as we get closer to the day. Our minimum callout can cater for up to 5 people on the day for both hair and makeup. You can add on more people at any time. We will just work around your needs.
